George Dhauw

In residence: George Dhauw

During his residency, George Dhauw developed an interactive costume integrating textiles, sensor technology, and sound.
The costume, composed of knitwear and embroidered elements that conceal the technical components, consists of multiple modules that register movement, impact, and body orientation through accelerometers and vibration sensors.

This data is translated in real time into a spatial sound composition, composed of ticking and crackling sounds that render the fragility of the material audible and give it a distinct identity. Small embedded speakers diffuse these subtle sounds throughout the space.
