You Can’t Be a Slut Alone, 2026

In residence: Eva van Tongeren

Eva van Tongeren spent three weeks at Werktank working on ‘You Can’t Be a Slut Alone’, a project that imagines a possible future from a feminist perspective in response to the “male loneliness epidemic.”

During the residency, she developed the project’s visual and technical language. She experimented with greenscreen filming, learned rotoscope animation, and, together with Werktank, designed a 3D-printed component to attach lasers to pole dance pleasers. These experiments form the basis for a playful, critical edit that brings together reflections on the misogynistic manosphere, news footage, and personal stories about toxic masculinity.
